Greiner triumphs at the ASRA Award for sustainability reporting

27. November 2024

Greiner wins the 2024 ASRA in the category “Companies that voluntarily prepare a sustainability report”.

Greiner triumphs at the ASRA Award for sustainability reporting

Greiner chose the motto “Nothing beats Ambition” for its 2023 sustainability report for a reason. Because the ambitions are high. Greiner wants to be one of the leading companies in the field of sustainability. So it was all the more gratifying when the report received the Austrian Sustainability Reporting Award (ASRA) at the end of November.

About the integrated annual report of Greiner

The ASRA is awarded to the integrated annual report for the financial year 2023. Integrated means that this report presents both the financial and non-financial performance of the company. The report was externally audited by auditors and is based on the common sustainability standard GRI (Global Reporting Initiative).

The award was given in the category “Companies that voluntarily produce a sustainability report”. Greiner was already nominated for the ASRA in 2019 and came in third place in the category “Companies reporting for the first time”. So there has been continuous improvement.

“Our commitment to sustainability has been strong for years. We want to be among the leading companies and show how a sustainable transformation can succeed. The ASRA shows us that we are living up to our own standards. It makes it clear that we are not just talking, but also taking action.”

Transparency is extremely important to Greiner. That is why sustainability reporting is given high priority. Greiner has been voluntarily providing information about its sustainability performance for years. The award shows that Greiner can be very satisfied with the transparency it offers.

“Reporting – as controversial as it is – is an essential tool that I believe is greatly underestimated. The key is to create transparency and comparability in order to be able to make strategic decisions based on this information, both on the company side and on the customer or financial side. So reporting can be sexy too, if it's done right.”

This award strengthens the trust of customers, partners and the public in the company and positions Greiner as a pioneer in the industry. It also motivates Greiner to consistently continue and further develop its sustainable initiatives.

“The demands on companies have been increasing for years. This is because our stakeholders rightly expect us to be transparent about the negative and positive impacts of our actions. Winning the ASRA shows that we are achieving this transparency in an exemplary manner.”

Stefan Grafenhorst, VP Sustainability & Corporate Communications

From the outset, Greiner's aim was not just to produce a report, but to create an honest, transparent and comprehensible sustainability performance – a story about how the company can actively help to overcome global challenges.

“Reporting has long since ceased to be about writing nice stories. As a rule, the content of the report should also be implemented, planned and auditable in the company. The aim is to show where you stand and which gaps need to be closed. This is no easy task – especially not when there are clear guidelines for how things are planned in the future.”

Sabine Schellander, Head of Sustainability

This award is both an incentive and an obligation. Greiner sees this prize not as an end in itself, but as a milestone on the way forward. A path that Greiner intends to continue to follow with courage, openness and responsibility.
