Focus on sustainability: Greiner Bio-One receives ACT ecolabel for serological pipettes

26. September 2024

The company's serological pipettes have been awarded the ACT ecolabel.

Bei den serologischen Pipetten ist Greiner Bio-One der Hersteller mit dem geringsten Umweltbelastungsfaktor

As one of the leading suppliers of plastic solutions for laboratory requirements, Greiner Bio-One is setting a strong example for sustainability and transparency: The company's serological pipettes have been awarded the renowned ACT ecolabel for life science products by the non-profit organization My Green Lab.

More sustainable purchasing decisions with the ACT label

My Green Lab's ACT Environmental Impact Factor ecolabel provides scientists and purchasers with independently verified information about the environmental impact of laboratory products. The label stands for Accountability, Consistency and Transparency and provides detailed insight into the products' manufacturing, energy sourcing, ingredients, resource consumption, packaging, durability and recyclability.

Lowest environmental impact factor for serological pipettes

The ACT label is similar to an energy efficiency label and shows a score from 1-10 or a color scale from green to red for each category. The lower the number of points, the better the sustainability impact of the products. This classification makes it easier to compare products from different manufacturers and supports more sustainable purchasing decisions.

In the case of serological pipettes, Greiner Bio-One is the manufacturer with the lowest environmental impact factor. Greiner Bio-One also achieved very good results in the categories "Manufacturing Impact Reduction", "Renewable Energy Use", "Shipping Impact" and "Packaging Content". For the latter, the company uses cartons made from 99% recycled material. A geothermal water-cooling system for mold cooling circuits, the use of a special regranulation system to reuse unavoidable production waste as recycled raw materials, and optimized delivery routes also contribute to the low score.
