On track for the future – Future Minds Summit in Linz
Greiner at Future Minds Summit
How can we build a good life today for tomorrow? What trends and developments are shaping our society now and in the future? How can we meet the major challenges of our time – such as the climate crisis? A wide range of experts got to the bottom of these questions at the Future Minds Summit, including Isabella Melbinger, Sustainability Manager at Greiner, and Petra Moser from the Greiner Training Center.
The Future Minds Summit was aimed at young people who are interested in future topics and education. It was organized by Teach For Austria with the Innovation Hub Linz. The event in Linz focused on the topics of “Future Minds”, “Future Digi”, “Future Climate” and “Future Work”. As a partner of Teach for Austria, Greiner was represented twice: Isabella Melbinger spoke at the Future Climate Panel and Petra Moser was part of the Future Work Marketplace.
The future of the climate
The program item Future Climate was introduced by inputs from Gebhard Ottacher from Climate Lab Vien-na, Dominik Kreil from Linz City Council and the H2 Convention as well as Isabella Melbinger. Isabella intro-duced us as Greiner and our approach to climate and sustainability. She had clear words: “As a company, you need a clear commitment, just as we have with our science-based targets. We know that we as Greiner are part of the problem, but we also want to be part of the solution.” One focus of her presentation was also climate education in companies. As the person responsible for the internal Greiner Climate Ambassador program, she accompanies 15 colleagues every year on their way to becoming climate ambassadors. In the panel discussion that followed, Gebhard Ottacher, Dominik Kreil and Isabella Melbinger were joined by representatives from WeFair, Fridays for Future and Südwind to answer questions from the audience.
Future Work: companies introduce themselves
The Future Work Marketplace offered visitors to the event the opportunity to gain an insight into various companies. In addition to Greiner, Fronius, MIBA, Sparkasse, AK OÖ, WK OÖ, Volkshilfe Arbeitswelt, VSG, PATHFindr and Innoviduum/Talent Loop also presented themselves with stands. Petra Moser from the Greiner Training Center summed up her impressions as follows: “It was a great event and I was able to enjoy some long and intensive discussions on the topic of plastics. I was very surprised by the diversity of the visi-tors. You won’t find this kind of audience at any other event that I know of – from students, primary school teachers and secondary school teachers to AHS teachers and people who look after young people in special support programs.”
