MINTality Foundation: Cooperation with MS Losenstein
Stories

Greiner is a founding member of the MINTality Foundation and thus supports the advancement of women in technical professions/studies. The abbreviation MINT stands for mathematics, computer science, natural sciences, engineering and technology.

STEM professions are key positions, as the demand for workers is increasing enormously in this area in particular. At the same time, there is a very low number of qualified workers – mainly because far too few women can still be recruited for these professions.

In the 2022/23 school year, the foundation members will be cooperating with schools for the first time. Greiner will be working with pupils at the Losenstein secondary school for a year in order to arouse interest in technology in a practical way and without barriers to entry. The focus is on giving pupils an insight into how STEM is used and can be used in everyday working life.

"Companies need the talents and gifts of everyone - girls and boys alike. Unfortunately, outdated role models and stereotypes often still stand in the way of girls reaching their full potential."

Axel Kühner, CEO Greiner AG

Details on the cooperation between foundation members and schools
The MINTality Foundation, in coordination with the education directorates of all Austrian federal states and in cooperation with Science Pool, has launched the so-called Company School Year. The innovative approach of the Company School Year is not just to implement a one-off measure, but to enable practical cooperation between a school class and a company over the course of an entire school year.

Schools and companies with local proximity are matched for the company school year. Greiner is cooperating with the 2nd and 3rd grade of the Losenstein secondary school and is accompanying a total of 22 students in the 2023/24 school year. At the first appointment, the students were given a tour of the production facility and were able to get to know various training focal points at a station operation in the training center. The program also includes various content-related inputs, e.g. on the topic of recycling, as well as several exchanges with a female role model. The students are also working on a project that they will present in May or June.
