From the classroom to the shop floor: A day at Greiner in Kremsmünster
As part of our cooperation with Teach For Austria, the school class MS5 from Wels was a guest at the Greiner training center and at Greiner Packaging.
Creating equal opportunities and educating young people is an extremely important concern for us as a family business. According to studies by the European Commission, educational success in Austria is more dependent on the socio-economic status and level of education of parents than in any other EU country. This has to change – and that is precisely where Teach For Austria comes in. We have been a proud partner since the 2016/17 school year and also have supported the expansion of this educational initiative in Upper Austria from the outset.
As part of the cooperation with Teach For Austria, a class from MS5 in Wels visited the Greiner Training Center on October 22 to get a first-hand look at the training opportunities at Greiner. Career orientation is particularly important for students from educationally disadvantaged backgrounds so that they are shown as many opportunities as possible.
Valuable insights into job and training opportunities
So it made sense that the students, accompanied by apprentice coach Petra Moser, first took a look at the production process at Greiner Packaging to learn many details about how plastic is processed. After that, they went to the Greiner Training Center, where the students were not only informed about the apprenticeships at Greiner, but were also allowed to operate the machines in the training center themselves. Last but not least, the students were able to produce their own lunch boxes under supervision.
We at Greiner are grateful for the good cooperation with Teach For Austria and see education as well as training that does justice to one's own abilities and potential as the key to a fulfilled life.
